Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 May 2026 · Mlem, datamend.uk
Short version: DataMend is a fully offline desktop application. It never connects to the internet and never transmits your data anywhere. The CSV files you open stay on your computer.
1. Who we are
DataMend is a product of Mlem. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at [email protected].
For the purposes of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, Mlem is the data controller for personal data collected through this website and through the purchase process.
2. The DataMend application — no data collected
The DataMend desktop application is entirely offline. It:
- Does not connect to the internet
- Does not transmit any data you open or process
- Does not collect telemetry, usage statistics, or crash reports
- Does not require an account or login
- Stores nothing on servers — no servers involved in running the app
Any CSV files you open, clean, or export remain entirely on your own computer. We have no access to them.
3. This website (datamend.uk)
When you visit this website:
- We do not use any analytics tools (no Google Analytics, no cookies for tracking)
- We do not use advertising trackers
- Standard web server logs may record your IP address and the pages you request — these are retained for up to 30 days for security purposes and then deleted
4. When you purchase
Purchases are processed by Gumroad (Gumroad, Inc.), a third-party payment processor. When you buy DataMend, Gumroad collects and processes:
- Your name and email address (to send your receipt and download link)
- Your payment details (card number, billing address) — these are processed directly by Gumroad and are never seen by us
Gumroad's privacy policy is available at gumroad.com/privacy.
We receive from Gumroad: your email address and the fact that a purchase was made. We use this only to provide support and to send update notifications if you opt in.
5. Email contact
If you email us at [email protected], we will retain your email and correspondence for as long as is necessary to resolve your query, and for up to 2 years afterwards in case follow-up is needed.
6. Legal basis for processing (UK GDPR)
- Contract performance — processing your purchase and delivering the software
- Legitimate interests — responding to support queries, security logging
- Legal obligation — retaining transaction records as required by UK tax law
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Erasure — ask us to delete your data (subject to legal retention obligations)
- Restriction — ask us to limit how we use your data
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk or call 0303 123 1113.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. We will not retroactively reduce your rights without notifying you.
